Mitchell Wiggins Bio
Andrew Wiggins' father, Mitchell Wiggins, was born in Kinston North Carolina on September 28, 1959. He attended North Lenoir High School in LaGrange, North Carolina. He attended college at Truett-McConnell CC, Clemson, and Florida State where his skills as a shooting guard made him one of the top draft prospects in the country.
In 1983, Mitchell Wiggins was drafted in the first round of the NBA draft. He was the 23rd pick overall. He started out with the Chicago Bulls. In 1984 he went to the Houston Rockets and the team made it to the 1986 NBA Finals. In the 1989-1990 season he averaged 15.5 points per game which was his highest. He also played for the Philadelphia 76ers during the 1991-1992 season and then went to play overseas in Europe.
In 1982, Mitchell Wiggins played for the US national basketball team for the FIBA World Championship and helped them win the silver medal.
