Marita Payne-Wiggins Bio
Andrew Wiggins' mom went to Florida State University where she ran track-and-field successfully. Marita Payne-Wiggins also participated in the Summer Olympics in the track and field competitions. She represented Canada in 1984 where she won a silver medal in the 4x400 metres relay. She also won a silver medal in the 4x100 metres relay and finished fourth in the individual 400 m race.
Marita holds the Canadian record for the 400 metres with a time of 49.91. She has silver medals from the 1983 Universiade for the 200 meters, 4x100 and 4x400 metres relays. Her performance at the 1983 World Championships in Athletics lead to a Commonwealth record of 50.06 in the women's 400 metres. Marita Payne-Wiggins also has a gold medal from the 1986 Commonwealth Games for the 4x400 metres relay. She has silver medals in the 4x400 metres relay from the 1983 and 1987 Pan American Games.
